In-Home Senior Services in Charleston, WV

Village Caregiving is the biggest privately owned in-home care service provider in the United States, and we provide care options to clients in over 50 locations across the U.S.

Everyone deserves to live to the fullest, so our in-home care services aim to fill the gaps in capacity for our clients when they perform their daily tasks. As our clients’ needs evolve, so do our services. We provide ongoing assessments to ensure we can maintain clients’ happiness and safety.

Custom In-Home Care Plans in Charleston, WV

Many factors can affect the type of care a person needs in their home. We consider these factors when you choose to use our services. We offer personalized care that we tailor to our clients’ individual needs.

Initially, we will meet to discuss your general needs and preferences or those of your loved one. Once we know these requirements, we can start planning and examining health care, ambulation, transport and daily activity assistance. Finally, we must determine to what extent family members will participate in the care plan. Family participation and support are important in ensuring our clients have a strong support network. That’s why we try to include family members through every step of the process!

We want our in-home care to be as affordable as possible. We accept a variety of insurance options and direct payments, but what makes us stand out in the industry is we will advise potential clients on what federal or state insurance options they are eligible for. We accept certain Medicaid programs and Medicare Advantage plans. If you are unsure if we will take your insurance, you can get in touch with us to inquire.

Home Help for Seniors in Charleston

We offer excellent assistance to older adults who need help around the house. We provide help with day-to-day chores such as:

  • Meal planning and cooking
  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Ambulation assistance
  • Toileting
  • Bathing
  • Grooming
  • Dressing

We want our clients to have as much joy as possible, even if this requires doing something irregular or a location-specific one-off. For example, something as simple as bringing ice cream as a surprise can do wonders for a client’s mood.

Respite Care

Burnout can affect the quality of care that you can provide to your loved one as the primary caregiver. If you look after yourself properly, you will be able to offer the care your loved one needs. That means primary caregivers also need time to deal with their own responsibilities.

For these reasons, we offer respite care in Charleston. These respite services can be for when you just need an afternoon to attend a doctor’s appointment or when you want to have a few days for a vacation. Our respite caregivers can be there regularly so that you can continue giving your loved one the care they need.

Hygiene Assistance

Personal cleanliness is vital to maintaining mental and physical health for the long term. Due to aging or other factors, limited mobility can make hygiene and grooming more challenging. Our family caregivers can assist clients with appearance maintenance, personal grooming, oral care, assisted bathing and toileting to ensure they can look and feel their best while maintaining dignity.

Daily Living Assistance

We offer clients self-administered medication assistance. We cannot administer medications ourselves because we aren’t a skilled care agency, we cannot administer medications ourselves. However, we can provide reminders and help manage medication schedules to ensure client safety.

Safety is a key part of keeping home as a safe space where people can feel comfortable. While we can’t prevent falls entirely, we can provide secure transfer and ambulation support to mitigate the risks in the home that could contribute to a fall. We will assess the home to identify risks and give clients canes and walkers to assist in safe transfers. We provide ongoing assessments as well to ensure the home remains secure and comfortable.

Transportation Services

We see travel as an important part of remaining autonomous for our clients. Our transportation services make life more convenient and work to keep people in the world. Our accompanying transport service lets clients visit friends, go to social events, run errands and attend medical appointments.

Our caregivers can also accompany clients to medical appointments to ensure their safety and comfort, take notes if necessary, and help them back into the car.

Social Companionship and Assistance

Our Charleston companionship services help our clients maintain social connections regularly. Loneliness and social isolation are common among less mobile and older adults. Maintaining social connections as we age has multiple mental and physical health benefits. One of our caregivers’ duties is to provide companionship to clients, which can alleviate loneliness and provide a constant source of support. Some of the activities you or your loved one can participate in are:

  • Baking
  • Gardening
  • Art therapy
  • Music
  • Games
  • Walking
  • Watching movies
  • Eating meals together

These activities depend on our client’s interests, abilities and limitations. Even the simple act of having a conversation and sharing experiences is an excellent way to fulfill many people’s need for socializing. The caregiver and client can form strong bonds, enhancing their overall quality of life.

I recently became employed at Village. The staff have a very professional & friendly demeanor. The nurse makes training enjoyable and she's very helpful. What attracted me is the work and home life balance & benefits available. My clients are close to home and excited to interact with us. I'm thankful I made the choice to apply & encourage others to do so. I highly recommend if you need someone to care for your loved ones, please give us a call.
Response from the owner: Hi Lakisha! Thanks for joining the Village Caregiving team! We are so glad you chose to work with us, and we appreciate the review and recommendation!!!

Ohhhh.... Village Caregiving... Where do I begin !?WARNING - This is about to be a long review...You know, I was messin around because I can be quite the jokester and kept tellin myself and everyone else that I was gonna come and write a horrible review but in all honesty, I cannot and will not do that because this company is and has been nothin but the best for my family and I. As you can see from my picture, we have been with this company since 2014 ( Our son was born in 2013 !! I cannot believe I still have timesheets dated from this far back but I do.. lol ) 10 years later and we are still goin strong and with the greatest team ever from Charleston, WV !My husband needed a caregiver because of becoming bedridden and having MS with a history of seizures and so, with the help of the Huntington VA they provided us services with Village and I'm forever grateful that they did. I will say that like any other businesses, you win some and you loose some but with Village we have won more than we have lost. You will get clients and caregivers that you absolutely love and adore and you will get clients and caregivers in which whom you cannot click with... it's ok, and it's a part of life and a tiny bump in the road that with the help from the staff of Village you can get over with ease. And.. you will also hear the good, the bad and the ugly but never ever judge a book by it's cover and instead, go read it for yourself because everyone has their own opinions on their own chapters. The book that we as a team have written together has been by far amazing and I trust that yours will too. They work with everyone and they truly see to it that in the end everyone is extremely happy and comfortable with whom they have and where they are. They make sure that everyone is taken care of and they always try to make the business/ their second home.. your home. After 9 years of bein the caretaker/overseer of my husband, I have now become not only his caregiver but also a caregiver who can go out and assist others in need and to me that is an absolute blessing and honor to do so especially when I get to set with Veterans ( I love being able to help everyone but I'm pretty fond of our Vets ).If you or your family are in need of a caregiving facility where you can get care in the comfort of your own home and on your own terms than I highly recommend this company. They will get you with the right person, they will hear you out, they will work with you on your schedule and your needs, they will call and check in to make sure everything is goin well, they will be loving, caring and compassionate and they will fix whatever needs to be fixed. And if you are someone who is needing a job and you love to help others in need than look no further because Village is flexible with hours, they will give you permanent clients when available, they will give you as many clients as you can handle and that you want, they will invite you to events, they will give you bonuses, they will listen and help where they can help and they will pull you in and make you apart of the big ol village that they have created ! You will create new relationships through this team with Eddie, Lakeisha, Sherrie and Susan that you never thought could be created and you too will be forever grateful ♡ We LOVE this company !On another note before I wrap this up, if you talk to Eddie, give him a hard time for me and tell him that his bestie Shante' needs a raise ! 😂
Response from the owner: Shante - WOW! thank you for this lovely review. Village Caregiving works hard to make sure our clients are taken care of, especially our amazing veterans! We appreciate your many years of taking this journey with us!

My name is Cassandra R. I have worked in this field for a very long time and came across lots of employment and have never had a company make me feel like I've belonged there. Village caregiving has gone far and be on to make sure that I felt apart of. Eddie is the most amazing person anyone could come by. He is always respectful and helping with anything to make sure that not only the client is taken care of but anyway he could help me make that possible as well. So much as giving a ride to the client. He is always so happy, smiling , and always something positive to say in any situation. This company has gone the distance for me. I've never experienced this with any other company.Thank you guys
Response from the owner: Hello Cassandra! We are so glad to know that you feel like you belong with Village Caregiving - this is wonderful feedback to hear! Thank you for this review. Eddie is a fantastic man, manager, and leader - we are lucky to have him on the Village Caregiving team.

Everyone there is very professional, easy to contact. To coversate with them is like talking to an old friend. No hoops to jump through here, everything is direct and straight to the point of business and that's your family's home health care. This company and the people you will encounter there will exceed your expectations and won't let you down. Very happy I found this gem in the heart of kanawha county.

I couldn't be more happy with this company. They have always made me feel like I was apart of their family, since i started working for them back in 2019. They have been current with me on any updates, they are very understanding, and when it came to being retrained for my CPR training, their RN Sherri was so helpful and took her time to make sure I was able to do what was instructed. Not to mention the training is one on one that way if someone gets anxious they can take their time and be calm and collected to do what is needed to be done. They are on top of everything, I couldn't be more happier with them as my employer. Thank you to Eddie and Sherri for making me feel like I'm their family!!
Response from the owner: Hello Shayna - thanks for letting us know that you're happy with Village Caregiving! We appreciate this review also. We want VCG to feel like one big family of people working together, supporting each other, and all moving in the same direction. Our RNs are always here to oversee and train caregivers, to make sure we are offering the best home care services possible. Thank YOU!!!

Why Choose Village Caregiving?

Choosing us means choosing compassionate and professional support for you and your family throughout the care process. At its heart, caregiving is all about people. It’s essential to consider the family when looking at in-home care and how to make it as easy as possible for everybody involved.

Our caregivers are all hired from the local community of that location. We find that this fosters a deeper bond with clients, and gives them much to discuss. We look for people who are naturally compassionate and empathetic and who have the necessary care skills that we can then upgrade with our ongoing training.

We provide the reliable, warmhearted care that everybody deserves. We are an extremely popular workplace because of the benefits we provide our employees and the work-inclusive and friendly work environment we work hard to foster in all our locations.

An important factor that differentiates us from other care services is that we say yes when others say no. If it’s safe and it improves our client’s experience, we will try to provide it. Small surprises with their favorite food or showing them things they may find interesting all help solidify the bond between caregiver and client.
